The Bridge, Stride Circles of Support is a wraparound service, creating positive relationships with women who are incarcerated, with community members, in order to support their reintegration upon release. Women are often left to struggle upon release, not able to form positive relationships. The risk of returning to high risk activities is higher, given the increased stresses of poverty, low self-esteem, minimal education, low employability, and challenges reuniting with their children.
With the support of Stride Circles of Support, women are able to create meaningful relationships with volunteers while incarcerated, to be able to facilitate a transition to a group of volunteers that can help create meaningful relationships and connections after release. This supplements our intensive case management program, in which our clients are able to connect with our case management team, and volunteers, to help them stay on their track.
The Stride Circle of Support is aiming to be the only community focused support, that provides practical and social supports, and maintaining the relationships from pre-release to community, in a way that nurtures success.
