As and social service organization offering essential services to a vulnerable and underserved population, The Bridge and the people that we serve have been impacted by COVID 19 related changes over the last few weeks. Incarcerated populations face increased risks and vulnerabilities during the outbreak of a serious communicable disease. Communities across Canada have been calling for early-releases and we have seen a reduction of incarcerated population, with that more people than ever in our city need urgent reintegration supports and services. Currently prisons are closed to our caseworkers and with the social distancing measures announced by the province, we have found it necessary to pause some of our meal and group-based programs. However, we continue to provide transitional housing supports and our scheduled staff are working hard to meet the gaps in supporting our existing clients and responding to incoming requests for services. During this unprecedented and difficult time for us and the clients we serve, The Bridge needs the help and support of the larger community to keep our services running and our transitional housing program open. Please consider ways that you may support our efforts by donating today or visiting our fundraising page and learn about ongoing fundraising initiatives. We believe that together with the larger community we can weather this storm and ensure that clients who need our services have a place to turn to in coming months.
